Judson's Lawlor, Davey, USF's Sippel Capture Latest Set of Volleyball Weekly Awards

CHICAGO --- Judson University claimed two of the three Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week awards for the seven-day period ending Oct. 15 and University of St. Francis gained the other one when the league office made the announcement on Tuesday.  Earning the distinction for Judson were Lindsay Lawlor (Fishers, Ind.) and Emmaline Davey (North Street, Mich.) and for St. Francis, Abby Sippel (Beecher, Ill.).

Lawlor collected her fourth CCAC Setter of the Week award for 2023 and back-to-back recognition for the second time this fall after averaging 10.5 assists per set in the Eagles' perfect 4-0 week.  The senior totaled no less than 31 assists in any one match, including that number in a three-set upset win against NAIA No. 13 Columbia College (Mo.) on Friday.

Lawlor's other matches had her totaling 34 assists in a sweep of Saint Xavier University on Tuesday, 47 sets in a five-game win versus William Woods University (Mo.) on Saturday and 45 assists in a four-set nod over Georgetown College (Ky.), also on Saturday.

Davey, the CCAC Attacker of the Week, was also a key contributor to the 4-0 week with her 2.7 kills per set and .429 attack percentage.  The senior middle blocker also totaled nine blocks.

Dewey's top performances were her 12 kills versus Saint Xavier, 11 kills and four blocks against William Woods and 10 kills and three blocks opposite Georgetown.

Judson remains atop the league standings at 9-0.  Overall, the Eagles are 17-2.

Sippel's CCAC Defender of the Week award came after the freshman defensive specialist averaged nearly five digs per contest (4.8) over four matches.  Highlighting the week were her career-best 35 digs in a five-set win over Waldorf University (Iowa) on Friday night.  Earlier that day, she put up 20 digs in a three-set loss to Rocky Mountain College (Mont.).

Sippel also recorded double-figure dig totals against Olivet Nazarene University (14) last Tuesday and University of Saint Francis (Ind.) (18) on Saturday.
