JU's Lawlor, Gerzel, TCC's Neighbors Pick Up Week 7 Women's Volleyball Awards

CHICAGO --- Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors for Week 7 were distributed to Judson University's Lindsay Lawlor (Fishers, Ind.) and Alyssa Gerzel (Lake Villa, Ill.) and Trinity Christian College's Sarah Neighbors (Spokane, Wash.) on Tuesday when the league office made the announcement.  For Lawlor and Gerzel, they were both recognized for the second time this fall.

Gerzel averaged 3.69 kills per set and attacked at a .313 clip to go along with a 2.56 digs-per-set average in snaring CCAC Attacker of the Week accolades.  The junior opposite-side hitter also produced 37 receptions with only one error.

Gerzel recorded double-figure kills in each of the Eagles' four contests, highlighted by her double-double (12 kills, 13 digs) in a four-set loss to Mount Vernon Nazarene University (Ohio) on Saturday.  She also posted 13 kills and a .407 hitting percentage against Indiana University South Bend last Tuesday and 12 kills and a .611 attack percentage versus Olivet Nazarene University on Saturday.  Each of the latter two matches were three-set victories.

Lawlor nearly posted 40-plus assist matches in each of the team's four contests en route to CCAC Setter of the Week accord.  The senior averaged 12.3 assists and 1.8 digs per set in the Eagles' 3-1 week.

Lawlor had matches of 42 assists against Governors State University on Thursday and 40 versus Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday.  She added 39-assist matches versus Indiana South Bend and Olivet Nazarene.

Judson continued its roll, remaining unbeaten in the league (8-0), while sitting at 13-2 overall.

Neighbors averaged better than four digs per set (4.11), while producing a pair of double-doubles to gain CCAC Defender of the Week recognition.  The sophomore outside hitter recorded 20 digs and 13 kills in a five-set loss to Indiana University Northwest on Tuesday before registering 17 digs and 11 kills in a four-set victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph on Thursday.

The 1-1 week put Trinity Christian at 5-4 in the CCAC and 6-13 overall.

Other Defender Nominees: Yomailis Fernandez (Judson), Abby Seeger (Indiana South Bend), Yulia Shchepkina (Roosevelt).

Other Setter Nominees: Alexis Bartz (Trinity Christian), Zoe Hutchinson (Roosevelt), Emma Knowlton (Indiana South Bend).
