Double Women's Volleyball Sweep For SXU With Three League Wins, Players of the Week

CHICAGO --- A sweep of wins in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play during the seven-day period ending Oct. 1 led to a sweep of the league women's volleyball weekly awards for the Saint Xavier University program on Tuesday when the announcement was made.

Connie LeBel (Crestwood, Ill.) captured her second CCAC Attacker of the Week award, while Kaleigh Ritter (Tinley Park, Ill.) was honored as both the CCAC Defender and Setter of the Week.  The first award was her second of the season.

Saint Xavier won all three of its league matches on the week to improve to 9-6 overall and 7-1 in the conference standings.

LeBel turned in a pair of 20-plus kill performances among her three matches played on the week, highlighted by her season-high 24 kills to go along with 13 digs in a five-set comeback victory over St. Ambrose University last Tuesday.  She then put up 20 kills in another five-set come-from-behind win over Roosevelt University on Thursday.

The junior outside hitter closed out the week by notching her second double-double of the week with her 17 kills and 17 digs in a four-set victory opposite Indiana University Northwest.

LeBel averaged 4.4 kills and 2.6 digs per set on the week with a .213 attack percentage.

Ritter authored double-doubles in all three matches to gain the double honor.  She averaged 9.5 assists and 4.2 digs per set and also provided four blocks.

The junior setter's biggest game came last Thursday against Roosevelt when she totaled 42 assists, 26 digs and three blocks.  Two days earlier, she put up 47 assists and 15 digs versus St. Ambrose.

Ritter closed out the week with a 44-assist, 18-dig match against Indiana Northwest on Saturday.

Other Setter Nominees: Alexis Bartz (Trinity Christian), Zoe Hutchinson (Roosevelt), Emma Knowlton (Indiana South Bend), Hadleigh Loitz (Olivet Nazarene), Ivana Quinones (Calumet St. Joseph).
