USF's Anderson, JU's Diaz Vega, Lawlor Gain Women's VB Weekly Honors

CHICAGO --- Leading their respective teams to league wins during the week of Aug. 28, University of St. Francis' Desiree Anderson (Joliet, Ill.) and Judson University's Kenia Diaz Vega (Caguas, Puerto Rico) and Lindsay Lawlor (Fishers, Ind.) have been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Players of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday morning.

Anderson garnered CCAC Attacker of the Week recognition after hitting at a .300 clip and averaging 3.67 kills per set in a three-set victory over Trinity Christian College.  The senior outside hitter matched her 11 kills with 11 digs to record her second double-double of the season.

Anderson's other numbers in Thursday's match included 21 receptions without an error and two blocks.

The contest was the only one on the week for the Fighting Saints, who are 1-0 in conference play and 1-4 overall.

Diaz Vega was chosen as the CCAC Defender of the Week after averaging 6.25 digs per set and totaling 20 receptions with only one error in the Eagles' four-set decision over Roosevelt University on Thursday.  Her 25 digs on the night enabled the senior defensive specialist to surpass the 1,000-dig mark for her career.

Totaling 42 assists and 11 digs, Lawlor collected CCAC Setter of the Week recognition for her performance against Roosevelt.  Those numbers averaged out to 10.5 assists and 2.75 digs per set.

The victory was the lone match on the Eagles' docket this past week and extended their winning streak to three matches.  They are 3-1 overall and 1-0 in league play.
