First-Place Finishes Net Weekly Women's Outdoor Track & Field Honors For SXU's Mathis, Agugua

CHICAGO --- First-place finishes from both Olivia Mathis (Akron, Ohio) and Precious Agugua (Frisco, Texas) have earned the Saint Xavier University pair Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's outdoor track & field weekly accolades for the seven-day period ending March 24, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Mathis claimed CCAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honors following her first-place finish out of 35 participants in the 400-meter dash at the Indiana Wesleyan University Polar Bear Invite on Friday.  The junior recorded a time of 1:00.78.

Agugua produced the top finish in the hammer throw at the same meet to earn CCAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week accord.  Her distance of 158 feet, 5 inches broke her own school record by better than three feet and out-performed the 34 other competitors in the event.

The junior also placed fifth out of 34 challengers in the discus throw with her toss of 128 feet.
