Top Marks Gain W. Outdoor T&F Honors For ONU's Griffith, Robinson
CHICAGO --- Strong performances by Linda Griffith (South Holland, Ill.) and Madeleine Robinson (Sandwich, Ill.) during the week of March 21 enabled Olivet Nazarene University to gain a clean sweep of the first set of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Griffith claimed the track honors after hitting a pair of "A" standards and establishing a new outdoor school record at the Kennesaw State University (Ga.) Don McGarey Invitational over the weekend. The sophomore was a part of the winning 4x100-meter relay team that set the new school mark with its "A" time of 47.37 seconds. Individually, she also registered an "A" time of 1:01.96 in the 400-meter hurdles, which placed her second at the meet.
Griffith competed on the fourth-place-finishing 4x400-meter relay unit, as well, which crossed the end line at 3:57.69, and posted a time of 25.50 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
Robinson registered three Top 10 performances and a pair of "B" standard marks at the McGarey Invitational to garner CCAC Field Athlete of the Week accord. Her best effort came in the hammer throw, where she notched a runner-up finish by hitting the "B" standard with her distance of 162 feet, ten inches.
The senior also produced a "B" mark in the shot put with her third-place finish and 44-3.5 distance.
Robinson's other mark was a distance of 119-4 in the discus to place ninth.
