SXU's Simpson Named CCAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week

CHICAGO --- Saint Xavier University's Madison Simpson (Burbank, Ill.) used a school record-setting performance during the seven-day period ending Jan. 16 to claim Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honors, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.

Simpson registered a distance of 42 feet, 8.25 inches in the preliminary round of the weight throw event at the Trine University (Ind.) Sean Brady Alumni Invitational on Saturday to establish the new Cougar record. The freshman then advanced to the finals, where she placed ninth with a throw of 37-10.75.

A total of 20 individuals made up the field in the event.
