Roosevelt's Petrica Captures Women's Tennis Weekly Accord
CHICAGO --- Roosevelt University's Teodora Petrica (Bucharest, Romania) has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the seven-day period ending March 31, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Petrica becomes the second Laker to win the award this year. The freshman did so by defeating highly-touted Wheaton College player Madeline Gentry, 7-5, 6-3. She also nearly got the best of NAIA No. 22-ranked Yasmin Imamniyazova before falling to the Marian University (Ind.) product, 7-5, 7-6 (7-3).
Roosevelt is 6-8 on the season after dropping its two matches this past week.
