St. Ambrose Sweeps Women's Soccer Titles

DAVENPORT, Iowa --- St. Ambrose University gained revenge for an earlier 1-0 setback to NAIA No. 23 Olivet Nazarene University and in the process claimed its second Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament title in the past three years with its 1-0 victory over the Tigers on Friday night at the St. Vincent's Athletic Complex.

The win also enabled the Fighting Bees to sweep both the regular-season and tournament titles.  Winners of 12 in a row, St. Ambrose (15-4) now advances to the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round on Nov. 16.

Haillee Wilson broke the scoreless deadlock in the 80th minute with her second goal of the season.  Isabella Crawford also picked the perfect time to register her first assist of the campaign.

The defensive battle saw only 13 shots taken between the two teams with both squads getting just three attempts on goal.  Rachel Willette defended the St. Ambrose net perfectly with her three saves to land her seventh shutout of the campaign.

Both St. Ambrose and Trinity Christian College – the regular-season runner-up – earned the conference's two automatic bids to the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round.  They will find out their next opponents on Monday when the NAIA National Office announces the pairings for the next postseason round.
