Judson's Perez, Roosevelt's Herrera Earn Women's Soccer Weekly Recognition

CHICAGO --- A three-goal week from Judson University's Josett Perez (Streamwood, Ill.) and a shutout by Roosevelt University's Roxana Herrera (Chicago, Ill.) have earned the pair their first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week honors for 2023, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Perez, the CCAC Offensive Player of the Week, played a role in half of Judson's eight goals during the seven-day period ending Oct. 29.  The senior forward connected with the back of the net once in a 2-2 tie with Saint Xavier University last Wednesday before totaling two goals and an assist in the Eagles' 6-0 victory over Indiana University South Bend on Saturday.

The three goals give Perez nine on the season to go along with her three assists.

Judson got back to .500 at 6-6-4 with the two wins.  In league play, the Eagles are 5-3-3.

Herrera notched her third clean sheet of the year on Saturday to gain CCAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition.  Playing down a player for 35 minutes and down two Lakers in the closing 25 minutes, the sophomore goalkeeper made six saves in the match.

Roosevelt is 6-9 overall and 4-7 against league competition.

Other Offensive Nominees: Taylor DeSplinter (St. Ambrose), Louisa Schreiber (Saint Xavier), Ella Herman (Viterbo), Emily Soriaga (Trinity Christian), Hannah Dela Vega (Olivet Nazarene).

Other Defensive Nominees: Michelle Urribarri (Trinity Christian), Natalie Dybas (Saint Xavier), Adriane Latham (St. Ambrose), Ashley Portell (Judson).
