SAU's Brunson, JU's Fernandez Fuel Shutout Wins, Pick Up Women's Soccer Weekly Accolades

CHICAGO --- Fueling shutouts in league-opening victories during the week of Sept. 11, St. Ambrose University's Kaitlyn Brunson (Marion, Iowa) and Judson University's Eva Fernandez (Madrid, Spain) have been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, the CCAC office announced on Tuesday.

Brunson, a junior midfielder, delivered a pair of goals in the Fighting Bees' 6-0 victory over Indiana University South Bend on Saturday.  It was the team's only contest of the week.

St. Ambrose evened out its overall record at 3-3 with the win.

Fernandez secured her first collegiate shutout in a 2-0 victory over Roosevelt University on Saturday.  The freshman totaled eight saves in the match.

With the win, Judson is now 2-2-1 on the season.

Other Defensive Nominees: Eden Suda (Saint Xavier), Michelle Urribarri (Trinity Christian), Marissa Anderson (Olivet Nazarene).
