Career-High Night, Double-Double Land Women's Basketball Weekly Honors For GSU's Chevre

CHICAGO --- Leading her team to a pair of wins with a career-high scoring night and a double-double, Governors State University's Zareia Chevre (St. Paul, Minn.) has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the seven-day period ending Jan. 21, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Chevre's career night came last Wednesday when she totaled 29 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field, including a pair of three-pointers, and nine free throws in 13 attempts in an 80-66 road victory over Holy Cross College.  In the same contest, she also recorded eight rebounds and four steals.

Three days later, the junior forward authored the double-double of 13 points and ten rebounds to go along with three steals in a 75-52 win opposite Trinity Christian College.

For the two games combined, Chevre registered averages of 21.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists, while shooting at a 58.3 percent clip from the field (14-of-24) and 75 percent accuracy at the foul line (12-of-16).

Winners of six games in a row, Governors State is now 15-3 overall and 9-1 against league competition.
