SXU Remains As Lone Unbeaten Heading Into Championship Saturday

CROWN POINT, Ind. --- Top-seeded Saint Xavier University remains the only unbeaten and three other teams look to keep their seasons alive heading into Championship Saturday at the 2024 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Tournament at the Crown Point Sportsplex.

Saint Xavier (26-12) became the first team to derail pesky No. 6 seed Olivet Nazarene University, which has already authored two upsets in the tournament, including knocking off No. 2 University of St. Francis in Friday's first game, 6-5.  SXU set itself up needing just one more victory to capture the program's fourth straight tournament crown with its 5-0 shutout of Olivet Nazarene later Friday afternoon.

No. 3 Roosevelt University stayed alive with a 3-1 win over Trinity Christian College, while St. Francis did the same with its 5-4 victory against St. Ambrose University.  

Saint Xavier will wait to meet either St. Francis, Roosevelt or Olivet Nazarene again in the title contest.  Should either Roosevelt or St. Francis advance to the championship tilt, that game would be moved to Sunday at 1 pm due to teams not being required to play three games in one day unless it is the if-necessary game.

Should Saint Xavier and Olivet Nazarene square off, the title game would be on Saturday at 5 pm with the if-necessary game to follow at 7 pm.

The first game on Saturday features Roosevelt (17-21) and St. Francis (27-13) at 1 pm with the winner to go up against Olivet Nazarene (14-25) at 3 pm.
