Softball Weekly Honors Go To USF's Sippel, SAU's Erickson

CHICAGO --- Emilee Erickson's (Elburn, Ill.) two wins in the circle for St. Ambrose University and Kaylie Sippel's (Beecher, Ill.) 11 hits and nine runs batted in in just six games for University of St. Francis have resulted in the two players capturing Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week honors, respectively, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.

Erickson authored back-to-back complete-game victories by allowing just one run in each of the two contests in which she pitched, a 3-1 victory over Olivet Nazarene University last Wednesday and a 4-1 nod over Saint Xavier University on Saturday.

In the win versus Olivet Nazarene, Erickson gave up just four hits and two walks against two strikeouts.  Three days later, she had five strikeouts in the Saint Xavier victory.

Combined, she permitted only 12 hits in her 14 innings pitched.

Erickson registered two of St. Ambrose's three wins over four games last week.  The Fighting Bees are 15-21 overall and 4-4 against league competition.

Sippel hit safely in all six games that St. Francis played in last week with multiple hits in three of the contests leading to a .500 batting average (11-for-22).  Besides that, she also delivered four multi-RBI games.

The senior outfielder had a pair of three-hit games versus Judson University and Calumet College of St. Joseph, both of which were victories.  She also had a two-hit day against Trinity Christian College.

USF went 5-1 last week to put itself at 23-11 overall and 9-3 in CCAC games.
