JU's Shipley, VU's Kerkman, RU's Bascape Pick Up Week 6 Men's Volleyball Accolades

CHICAGO --- Judson University's Grant Shipley (Cedarburg, Wis.), Viterbo University's Dane Kerkman (Racine, Wis.) and Roosevelt University's Michele Bascape (Rho, Italy) have claimed Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's volleyball accolades for Week 6 of the campaign, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Shipley was named the CCAC Attacker of the Week after hitting at a .640 clip in a 3-2 win over conference foe Viterbo University last Monday.  The freshman middle blocker totaled 18 kills against only two errors in 25 chances to go along with four block assists.

Judson is 11-7 on the season, including 1-1 in league play.

Kerkman earned his second CCAC Defender of the Week award this season after totaling 15 blocks, or an average of 1.15 blocks over his 13 sets played.  He also had 15 kills and six service aces over the three matches played.

The senior middle blocker had no less than four blocks in any one match, topped by his seven in a five-set win over Roosevelt University on Friday.  The next day he had four blocks in a three-set victory opposite St. Ambrose University.

Viterbo is 9-10 overall and 2-2 in the conference after going 2-1 in league play last week.

Bascape rounded out the list of award winners as the CCAC Setter of the Week.  The junior averaged better than ten assists per set (10.1) over three matches.

Bascape totaled 37 assists in a straight-set victory over Trinity Christian College before authoring another 49 in a five-game setback to Viterbo.

Roosevelt went 2-1 during the seven-day stretch to improve to 8-9 overall and 1-1 against league competition.

Other Defender Nominees: Gioele Iacono (Calumet St. Joseph), Miguel Mendez Palencia (Roosevelt).

Other Setter Nominees: Logan Amdur (Viterbo), Brayden Richardson (Calumet St. Joseph).
