SXU's Daniels, ONU's McAfee, VU's Kerkman Collect Men's Volleyball Weekly Accolades

CHICAGO --- Saint Xavier University's Cameron Daniels (Omaha, Neb.) has earned his second straight men's volleyball weekly league award, while Olivet Nazarene University's Brody McAfee (Westfield, Ind.) and Viterbo University's Dane Kerkman (Racine, Wis.) each collected their first when the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference made the announcement on Tuesday morning.

McAfee was recognized as the CCAC Attacker of the Week after averaging 4.09 kills per set over three matches during the seven-day period ending Feb. 18.  He also chipped in both an additional 1.36 digs and blocks per set on the defensive end.

The freshman opposite-side hitter saved his best for last with his 26 kills (5.2 avg.) in a five-set loss to Campbellsville University (Ky.) on Saturday.  He also registered 10 digs and six blocks in the match.

McAfee's other double-figure kill match came on Friday when he authored ten in a 3-0 setback to Cornerstone University (Mich.).

Olivet Nazarene is 3-6 on the season following its 1-2 week.

Kerkman was awarded CCAC Defender of the Week honors courtesy of nearly two blocks per set over three matches last week.  Like McAfee, Kerkman finished out the week strong with 11 blocks, 12 kills and a .524 attack percentage in a four-set win over Morningside College (Iowa) on Saturday.  One day earlier, the senior opposite-side hitter totaled eight blocks in a four-set defeat at the hands of Dordt College (Iowa).

For the three combined matches, Kerkman averaged 1.82 blocks and 1.91 kills per set with a .362 attack percentage.

Viterbo's 1-2 week put the V-Hawks' overall record at 5-7.

Daniels captured his second straight CCAC Setter of the Week award after averaging better than 10 assists per set in two matches played.  The freshman put up a total of 66 assists over six sets for an average of 11.0 assists per set.  He also recorded ten digs.

Daniels totaled 25 assists in a three-set league win over Judson University last Monday before collecting another 41 in a four-set nod over Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday.

The two wins put NAIA No. 13-ranked Saint Xavier back even at 5-5 overall, while being perfect in league play at 3-0.
