ONU Sweeps Men's Outdoor T&F Honors Behind Giuliano, Kasap

CHICAGO --- Olivet Nazarene University has swept the first set of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly awards for men's outdoor track & field with Vince Giuliano (Concord, Mich.) and Austin Kasap (Germantown Hills, Ill.) earning the accolades for the seven-day period ending March 27, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Competing in four events at the Kennesaw State University (Ga.) Don McGarey Invitational over the weekend, Giuliano was named the CCAC Track Athlete of the Week for his performance. His top finish came as part of ONU's 4x400-meter relay team, which registered a fourth-place effort and a time of 3:22.35. He also made up one leg of the team's 4x100-meter relay team, which posted a 43.13-second finish.

Individually, the sophomore ran a 21.75-second time in the 200-meter dash and a time of 49.85 seconds in the 400-meter dash.

Kasap was honored as the CCAC Field Athlete of the Week by claiming a trio of Top 10 finishes at the McGarey Invitational. His best placement was his second-place effort in the hammer throw, where he registered a distance of 157 feet, four inches.

The senior also placed sixth in the discus (138-5) and seventh in the shot put (46-7.5).
