Olivet Nazarene Claims Men's Indoor T&F Championship For Sixth Time In Seven Years

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. --- Claiming a league-high eight of the meet's 20 events, Olivet Nazarene University earned its sixth Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's indoor track & field championship in the past seven years over the weekend by scoring a total of 278 points.

St. Ambrose University and Saint Xavier University placed second and third, respectively, with 230 and 83 points.  Both teams tied for the second-most event titles with four each.

Trinity Christian College captured two of the remaining four events, while Roosevelt University and Judson University each collected one individual title.

The rest of the scoring had Trinity Christian in fourth place with 55 points, followed by University of St. Francis (48), Judson (23), Roosevelt (10) and Governors State University (9).  A total of nine teams competed in the event.

Olivet Nazarene produced six individual crowns and both relay titles (4x400 and 4x800) with the program also establishing two new league records.  Those were set by the Tigers' 4x400-meter relay team (3:21.26) and Vince Giuliano (Concord, Mich.) in the 60-meter dash (6.88 seconds).

St. Ambrose University's Will Reemtsma (Davenport, Iowa) was named the meet's Outstanding Track Event Performer after earning Top 4 finishes in each of the four events he competed in.  The highlight was his crown in the 600-meter dash, where he ran a 1:21.41.  He was also second in both the 60-meter hurdles (8.33 seconds) as well as part of the Bees' 4x400-meter relay team (3:24.59), while finishing fourth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.13 seconds.

In all, Reemtsma contributed 31 points to St. Ambrose's cause.

As for the CCAC Outstanding Field Event Performer, Saint Xavier's Ronnie Foster (Peoria Heights, Ill.) could not have performed any better, bringing home titles in both the triple and long jump categories, the only two events in which he competed.  His distance in the triple jump was 45 feet, 1.75 inches, while authoring a leap of 22 feet, 10 inches in the long jump.

The other top individual honor went to Olivet Nazarene's Kyle Rago, who was named the CCAC Coach of the Year after guiding the Tigers to the conference championship.
