Giuliano, Sears Enable Olivet Nazarene To Sweep Men's T&F Weekly Awards

CHICAGO --- Olivet Nazarene University earned the sweep of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors for the seven-day period ending Feb. 11 courtesy of the performances of Vince Giuliano (Concord, Mich.) and Noah Sears (Elkhart, Ind.), the league office announced on Wednesday.

Giuliano was named the CCAC Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this winter after establishing a pair of new school records en route to winning both events that he competed in at the Grand Valley State University (Mich.) Big Meet Friday.

The senior's time of 20.96 seconds in the 200-meter dash not only was an 'A' standard, but also topped the NAIA performance list in that event this year.  He defeated 22 other challengers in a loaded field of qualifiers on Friday.

Just as solid was Giuliano's mark in the 400-meter dash, where he placed first among 25 with an NAIA 'A' standard time of 47.59 seconds.

Sears also hit the NAIA 'A' standard in the pole vault, where the senior cleared the second-highest mark among 26 participants with his height of 16 feet at the Grand Valley State meet.  That ranks as the fifth-best mark in the NAIA this year.

Other Track Nominees: Milos Pendic (Trinity Christian), Chris Miserendino (St. Ambrose), Isaac Sytsma (Saint Xavier).

Other Field Nominees: Ben Davis (St. Ambrose), Ayobami Arokoyo (Saint Xavier).
