USF's Ocampo, ONU's Sears Garner Men's Indoor Track & Field Weekly Accolades
CHICAGO --- University of St. Francis' Pedro Ocampo (Berwyn, Ill.) and Olivet Nazarene University's Noah Sears (Elkhart, Ind.) have gained the latest set of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced on Wednesday morning.
Sears set a new personal indoor record in the pole vault event to claim CCAC Field Athlete of the Week recognition. The senior won Olivet Nazarene's own Invite by clearing 15 feet, 11 inches on Saturday. The mark hit the NAIA "A" standard and ranks fifth-best in the association this winter.
Ocampo, meanwhile, produced a "B" standard mark in the mile run to garner CCAC Track Athlete of the Week accolades. The senior clocked in at 4:18.91 to place second out of 30 runners in the field at the St. Ambrose University (Iowa) Fighting Bee Invite on Saturday.
