Three-Peat For ONU In Men's Soccer Tournament? No. 3 Roosevelt Stands In The Way

CHICAGO --- No. 3-seeded Roosevelt University is the only hurdle left in the way of top-seeded Olivet Nazarene three-peating as both the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer regular-season and tournament champions after both teams advanced to the tournament title match with identical 2-1 victories on Wednesday night.

Olivet Nazarene (12-3-2) gained its win over No. 4 Trinity Christian College, while Roosevelt (11-6-1) denied No. 7 Judson its second straight upset in the tournament.

Saturday's championship will take place at Snowbarger Park on the campus of Olivet Nazarene University beginning at 7 pm. 

On the line for Roosevelt is the league's second automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round.  The Lakers need the victory.  Otherwise, Governors State continues in the postseason by virtue of finishing second during the regular season. 

Olivet Nazarene earned the first bid by winning the conference regular season.

During the regular season, ONU scored a 2-0 victory over Roosevelt.

Olivet Nazarene 2, Trinity Christian 1
After a scoreless first half, both teams combined to score their three goals in a nine-minute span beginning at 53:59 with ONU's Nick Kilian breaking the ice.  Joel Trueb made it a 2-0 game in the 60th minute before TCC's Lucas Camilo got the Trolls back into the match at 62:54.

Roosevelt 2, Judson 1
In similar fashion to the ONU-TCC match, the scoring came in bunches and all early in the second half.  Six minutes were all that was needed for the two teams to put up their points with Roosevelt gaining the first two goals from Oswaldo Perez (50:33) and Davide Comai (55:25) before Judson responded at 56:14 with Lennyn Soriano's goal.
