ONU's Kilian, GSU's Blaesdahl Key Top League Finishes, Gain Men's Soccer Weekly Accolades

CHICAGO --- Helping their respective teams secure the top two seeds in the upcoming Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, Olivet Nazarene University's Nick Kilian (Stahnsdorf, Germany) and Governors State University's Simon Blaesdahl (Denmark) have been named the CCAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week for the seven-day period ending Oct. 29.  The league office made the announcement Tuesday morning.

Kilian collected CCAC Defensive Player of the Week accord after playing a role in both Olivet Nazarene game-winning goals last week, enabling the Tigers to claim their third straight regular-season title.  The senior defender finished the week with one goal and two assists, while also being a part of a defensive unit that did not allow a goal in the 2-0 week.

Kilian provided the game-winning goal and an assist in last Tuesday's 3-0 win over Trinity Christian College.  Then, on Saturday, in a must-win situation to secure the crown, his corner kick set up the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory versus Viterbo University.

The program's all-time leader in assists, Kilian now has 37 for his career.

Olivet Nazarene gained the title by going 8-1-2 in league play.  Overall, the Tigers are 10-3-2.

Blaesdahl delivered three goals in two Governors State victories to notch CCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors.  His first goal of the week came in a 5-1 victory over Indiana University Northwest last Tuesday.

The freshman forward also supplied the game-winning tally as one of two goals he scored in the Jaguars' 4-0 victory over St. Ambrose University on Saturday.  The latter goal was his team-leading tenth of the season.

Saturday's victory was Governors State's seventh in a row and extended the Jaguars' unbeaten streak to nine matches.  Blaesdahl has been a big reason for the success having scored seven goals in the last six matches.

GSU finished one point behind Olivet Nazarene for the top spot in the league, going 8-2-1 in conference play.  Overall, the Jaguars are 8-8-1.

Other Offensive Nominees: Santos Contreras (St. Francis), David Hernandez (Trinity Christian), Erik Hernandez (Roosevelt), Gabriel Trevisan (Judson).

Other Defensive Nominees: Marcol Salom Chandre (Governors State), Giorgos Christodoulou (Trinity Christian).
