JU's Trevisan, RU's Carvajal Claim Men's Soccer Weekly Recognition

CHICAGO --- A big offensive output from Judson University's Gabriel Trevisan (Caxias Do Sul, Brazil) and a key save by Roosevelt University's Eric Carvajal (Arlington Heights, Ill.) to secure a shutout victory have earned the two individuals Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week honors, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Trevisan was named the CCAC Offensive Player of the Week after totaling six goals in just two games last week.  The senior midfielder put up five goals in a 12-0 victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph last Wednesday before accounting for the lone Eagle tally in a 2-1 setback to University of St. Francis on Saturday.

The split decision left Judson at 2-4-1 overall and 1-2 in league contests.

Carvajal, the CCAC Defensive Player of the Week, made a point-blank save to keep the Lakers matchup against Holy Cross College scoreless in the second half and then commanded a strong defensive performance from his backline to nail down the 2-0 victory on Saturday.  The second-half stop was the only one the sophomore needed to make to record his second shutout of the season.

The win got Roosevelt back to .500 at 3-3-1 overall, while keeping the Lakers unbeaten in league play at 2-0.

Other Offensive Nominees: Sergio Fernandez-Arango (St. Francis), Alan Rubio (Roosevelt), Alfie Gyurkovits (Viterbo), David Hernandez (Trinity Christian), Elias Nonnenmann (Olivet Nazarene).

Other Defensive Nominees: Giorgos Christodoulou (Trinity Christian), Nick Kilian (Olivet Nazarene).
