2023 Men's Golf Honor Roll Announced

CHICAGO --- Tournament champion Roosevelt University and St. Ambrose University came away carrying the most hardware when the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference released its 2023 men's golf honor roll on Thursday afternoon.

Roosevelt and St. Ambrose tied for the most all-conference selections with three each with the latter program also securing two of the top three individual awards presented for a total of five honors overall.

CCAC Tournament runner-up Holy Cross College was the only program to gain two spots on the five-member first team, while each of Roosevelt's three selections were named to the second team.  The latter squad was made up of seven members.

University of St. Francis garnered two awardees – one on each team – while Trinity Christian College had one representative on the first team and Olivet Nazarene University one on the second team.  Trinity Christian claimed the other top individual award.

Making the all-conference first team were Holy Cross' Matthew Politte (St. Louis, Mo.) and Carter Silva (Escondido, Calif.), Roosevelt's Nicolas Paviet (Lyon, France), Trinity Christian's Ricardo Serpa (Amadora, Portugal) and St. Francis' Nolan Weis (Lockport, Ill.).  Politte was also the individual medalist at the CCAC Championships, winning on a second-hole playoff.

The selection for each team was based exclusively on their overall averages throughout the fall and spring seasons.  Each of the first-team members were separated by just two strokes between 75.2 and 77.2.

Capturing CCAC Player of the Year distinction was St. Ambrose's Owen Hultman (Belvidere, Ill.).  He averaged a 77.2 over his 22 total rounds played covering 11 tournaments.  The junior finished among the top ten players in four of those tournaments with his best overall finish being a third-place effort at the Central College (Iowa) Fall Classic.

Hultman placed fifth at the CCAC Tournament after earning the runner-up spot one year ago.

Besides his first team all-conference selection, Serpa also brought home the CCAC Freshman of the Year award after producing a conference-best 75.2 average on the season.  He recorded five Top 5 finishes among his nine Top 10 efforts overall, which included him winning the Judson University Invite with a school-record 68 (-3).

Serpa placed seventh at the CCAC Tournament and tied for third place at the NCCAA National Championships.

The final individual honor went to St. Ambrose's Jeff Griebel, who was selected as the CCAC Coach of the Year by his peers.
