USF's Charles Earns Men's Basketball Weekly Accolades

CHICAGO --- Averaging 17.5 points per game on 62.5 percent shooting over two contests during the seven-day period ending Dec. 31, University of St. Francis' EJ Charles (Mokena, Ill.) has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.  The league office made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon.

Charles hit for 19 points on 70 percent shooting (7-of-10) with five rebounds and three blocked shots in a tight 66-65 setback to Campbellsville University (Ky.) on Saturday.  On Sunday, the graduate student forward totaled 16 points, four blocks and a pair of rebounds in a 77-50 loss to NAIA No. 11-ranked Freed-Hardeman University (Tenn.).

Charles' four blocks in the latter affair tied a personal best for him and led to a 3.5 blocks-per-game average for the two contests.

St. Francis is 2-7 on the season.
