St. Ambrose Sweeps Weekly Baseball Honors Behind Performances of Matias, Bosse

CHICAGO --- St. Ambrose University has swept the latest round of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball weekly awards following the performances of Brandon Matias (Glenview, Ill.) and Jacob Bosse (Crown Point, Ind.) during the seven-day period ending April 21, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Matias notched CCAC Player of the Week accord after turning in both a .444 batting average and an .852 slugging percentage courtesy of his two doubles and three home runs among his 12 total hits in 27 at-bats.  He also drove home 11 runs, while scoring another six times.

The senior outfielder registered four multi-hit contests among his eight games played on the week and saved his best for last with a 3-for-4, 4-RBI contest in a 9-7 victory over University of St. Francis on Sunday.  He also collected two hits in each end of a split doubleheader with Olivet Nazarene University last Wednesday and drove in three runs in a twinbill versus Judson University on Friday.

Bosse secured CCAC Pitcher of the Week recognition after going the distance in a 14-1 first-game win over Judson on Saturday.  The junior had his shutout bid broken up in the seventh inning.  For the outing, he scattered four hits and walked four batters, while striking out 12.

St. Ambrose went 5-3 on the week and is now 22-19 overall and 16-12 in league play.
