CHICAGO --- Saint Xavier University's Justin Massingale (Carbondale, Ill.) and Trinity Christian College's Jacob Hutcherson (Winona Lake, Ind.) have both claimed their first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball weekly awards, the league office announced on Tuesday.  Massingale was named the CCAC Player of the Week with Hutcherson netting Pitcher of the Week accord for their play during the seven-day period ending April 14.

Massingale batted .464 (13-for-28) with seven of his hits going for extra bases for a .964 slugging percentage.  He recorded three doubles, one triple and three home runs, while also driving in nine runs and stealing five bases.  He registered a .543 on-base average, as well, with his four walks.

The junior utility player hit safely in seven of his eight games played last week with five multi-hit contests, including four straight to close out the week.  He also had a pair of multi-RBI games.

Saint Xavier went 6-2 on the week – all league contests – and is 24-19 overall and 17-9 against the rest of the conference teams.

Hutcherson allowed only one run in his 11 1/3 innings of relief work for a 0.79 earned run average last week.  In his two games, he struck out 11 batters against six walks and eight hits.

The senior earned the victory in a 10-9 win over St. Ambrose University last Tuesday when he threw 5 2/3 innings of no-hit ball.  He struck out eight batters on that day opposite four walks.

Hutcherson's other appearance also went 5 2/3 innings in a 5-2 setback to Olivet Nazarene on Saturday.  That day, he gave up just the one run with three strikeouts, two walks and eight hits allowed.
