Trinity Christian Sweeps Series, Baseball Weekly Honors

CHICAGO --- Trinity Christian College swept all four games of the season series against Judson University last week and on Tuesday morning swept Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week honors for the seven-day period ending March 24, the league office announced.

Connor Janik (Frankfort, Ill.) was recognized as the CCAC Player of the Week after hitting .500 and slugging 1.143 in the four-game series.  Five of the sophomore catcher/designated hitter's seven hits went for extra bases, which were comprised of three doubles and two home runs.  He also drove in five runs.

Janik opened the series with a big first game, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and two runs batted in in an 8-3 victory on Thursday.  In the 3-0 nightcap win, he went 2-for-4 with another double.

One day later, Janik drove in all three of the Trolls' runs with a home run in the third inning of a 3-1 first-game victory before going 1-for-3 with two runs scored in Game 2 to hit safely in all four contests.

Christopher Nielsen (Melbourne, Australia), the CCAC Pitcher of the Week, was on the mound for the first seven innings of the 3-0 victory on Thursday.  During that time, the junior permitted just one hit and struck out nine batters against no walks en route to the win.

Trinity Christian's 4-0 week put the Trolls over the .500 mark at 13-12 overall, while boosting their league record to 7-3.
