The current COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the lives of students all around the nation. IUSB athletics' goal in this project was to help the community in providing resources for the local children.

"This project is important because we need to stick together as a community during these challenging times," noted IUSB women's basketball senior Kylie Fehrman. "It is our job as student-athletes to be role models to the children. Our platform is a great way to connect and inspire the younger generation."

"I'd like to once again thank IUSB athletics for being a part of this project," commented Hay Elementary Asst. Principal Ermina Coric. "The fact that so many IUSB students were willing to read to our kiddos make me proud to be an alumni."

IU South Bend athletes from a variety of sports were recorded reading books that were kindly donated by Hay Elementary School. Students had the opportunity to read some of their favorite childhood stories to connect with the children.

"This entire project has been exciting to connect with the community," added Coric. "We have a great collection of videos so far but we hope that our virtual library keeps growing as more community members get involved. I believe that literacy is key to the student success and the ability to provide our students with easy access to a virtual library is yet another step towards a more equitable learning opportunity."

The Titans Virtual Library is now up on the IUSB Titans Athletics YouTube Channel and is open to the entire community.
