Saint Xavier Scores Sweep of Women's Volleyball Weekly Awards

CHICAGO --- Connie LeBel (Crestwood, Ill.) and Avanna Martinez (Coamo, Puerto Rico) have repeated as Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Players of the Week and were joined by teammate Kaleigh Ritter (Tinley Park, Ill.) on the awards stand, enabling the Saint Xavier University program to sweep the Week 6 honors, the league office announced on Tuesday.

LeBel was named CCAC Attacker of the Week for the second time after averaging nearly five kills per set in a pair of matches.  She finished at 4.88 with a .175 attack percentage.  The senior outside hitter also averaged 4.13 digs per set and had 38 receptions and six aces.

LeBel recorded double-doubles in each of her two matches with 11 kills and 14 digs in a three-set league win over Trinity Christian College last Tuesday and 28 kills, 19 digs and four aces in a five-set decision over Lourdes University (Ohio) on Friday.

Martinez gained back-to-back CCAC Defender of the Week accord after putting up 45 kills in just eight sets covering two matches.  That averages out to 5.63 digs per set.  She also recorded 42 receptions with only one error.

In the win over Lourdes, the junior libero registered a personal-best 34 digs to go along with 27 receptions.  She provided 11 digs and 15 receptions in the Trinity Christian match to complete her double-double week.

Ritter scored CCAC Setter of the Week recognition after averaging 10.13 assists and 3.13 digs per set over her two matches.  Like her teammates, she also authored a pair of double-doubles.

The senior setter posted 52 assists and 12 digs versus Lourdes and 29 assists and 13 digs opposite Trinity Christian.

Saint Xavier remained unbeaten in league play (4-0) with the two wins and is now 8-9 overall.
