Carrothers, Jackson Produce IUN Sweep of Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

CHICAGO --- Make it eight Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week awards for Jessica Carrothers (Highland, Ind.) and a pair for Tiara Jackson (East Chicago, Ind.) after the Indiana University Northwest duo swept the honors on Tuesday when the league office made the announcement.

Carrothers has now claimed five straight offensive weekly honors after another scoring frenzy over the last seven days.  This time around, she averaged 28.0 points per game on 56.5 percent shooting in a pair of RedHawk victories.  Her other averages included 5.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per contest.

The junior guard opened the week with 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 75-38 decision over Judson University on Wednesday.  She nearly doubled the numbers in the majority of those categories on Saturday with her 36 points, eight assists, four steals and three rebounds in a 77-51 victory against St. Ambrose University.  In the latter game, the nation's leading scorer also shot 63 percent from the field (26-of-46).

Jackson was a beast on the boards to earn her second CCAC Defensive Player of the Week award.  In the process, she authored a pair of double-doubles and averaged 17.0 points, 14.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per contest.  She also shot 60 percent from the field (15-of-25).

The senior forward delivered 18 rebounds (12 defensive), 18 points, two assists and two blocks in the win over Judson.  That was followed by a 16-point, 10-rebound, four-steal, three-block affair in the victory against St. Ambrose.

Winners of four games in a row, Indiana Northwest is 21-5 overall and 14-4 in league action.
