
IUSB'S Phelps, SXU's Harris Collect Second Women's Basketball Weekly Awards of the Season
CHICAGO --- Indiana University South Bend's Tenleigh Phelps (Shelbyville, Ind.) and Saint Xavier University's Eleanor Harris (Downers Grove, Ill.) each secured their second Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award for the 2024-25 season, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.
Phelps got the nod for the second time on the offensive side of the ball for her efforts during the week ending Jan. 5. In her only game of the seven-day stretch, the senior guard recorded a double-double with her 27 points and 10 rebounds in a 103-58 victory over Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) on Saturday.
Phelps missed just three shots from the field for the contest (11-of-14), while also converting a three-pointer and 4-of-6 free throws. Her other numbers included six assists and four blocks.
For the season, Indiana South Bend is 11-2 overall and 4-2 in league affairs.
Harris, meanwhile, was recognized as the CCAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time after totaling four steals and four blocks in a 78-71 conference win over Viterbo University on Saturday. The junior center also posted four points and five rebounds, four of which came on the offensive end.
The game was the only one of the week for Saint Xavier, which is 9-5 overall and 5-1 in CCAC play.
