Week 5 Softball Honors Go To SXU's Crane, ONU's Timm
CHICAGO --- Saint Xavier University's Fiona Krane (Evergreen Park, Ill.) and Olivet Nazarene University's Allie Timm (Channahon, Ill.) have claimed Week 5 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference softball honors, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.
Krane used a .625 batting average over a pair of games to notch CCAC Player of the Week accord. In a doubleheader against No. 12-ranked Madonna University, she went 5-for-8 at the plate with two runs scored and one run batted in. Defensively, she fielded all six of her chances cleanly.
The junior outfielder authored multi-hit games in each end of the twinbill, going 2-for-4 with the RBI in a 9-3 first-game loss and 3-for-4 with the two runs scored in a 5-4 second-game victory.
Saint Xavier is now 15-6 on the season.
Timm secured CCAC Pitcher of the Week recognition by earning both victories in a doubleheader sweep of Clarke University (Iowa) last Tuesday. In her 8 1/3 innings in the circle, she yielded only three hits and three walks, while striking out 11 batters.
The senior posted a 3-0 shutout in Game 1, where she recorded 10 strikeouts against the three walks and three hits. In Game 2, she came on in relief to get the final four outs of the contest, while not giving up a hit and striking out one.
The 2-0 week pushed Olivet Nazarene's record to 14-8 overall.
