SXU's Crane, TCC's Halmon Net First Weekly Awards of 2025 Softball Season

CHICAGO --- A .667 batting average from Saint Xavier University's Fiona Crane (Evergreen Park, Ill.) and a complete-game victory by Trinity Christian College's Myleigh Halmon (Plainfield, Ill.) have earned the pair the first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week honors of the 2025 season, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Crane, the CCAC Player of the Week, authored three multi-hit games among the four that she played in en route to totaling eight hits in 12 at-bats for the seven-day period.  She also drove in runs (four total)  in three contests, while scoring nine times herself, the majority of which were set up by her nine steals in as many attempts.  Her other numbers included a .714 on-base percentage courtesy of a pair of walks.

The junior outfielder opened the weekend with a three-hit, three-run, two-RBI game in a 13-1 win over Culver-Stockton College (Mo.) on Saturday.  On Sunday, she had two hits, three runs scored and four stolen bases to edge out Aquinas College (Mich.) 7-6.  Later that day, Crane had her second three-hit game of the weekend with two runs scored and a run batted in in an 11-9 victory over Mount Mercy University (Iowa).

Saint Xavier is off to a 9-3 start to begin the year.

CCAC Pitcher of the Week accolades went to Halmon, who went 1-0 with a 3.11 earned run average over two appearances.  Her win came in the first game of a doubleheader with Bethel College (Ind.) last Wednesday when she went the distance in a 4-3 nod.  She struck out eight batters in the seven-inning affair, while allowing just three hits.

In Game 2, a 15-2 loss, the senior came on in relief to work two innings, yielding just one run.

Offensively, Halmon went 2-for-6 at the plate with three runs batted in and two scored in the two contests.

Trinity Christian is 1-3 on the season.

Other Player Nominees: Myleigh Halmon (Trinity Christian).

Other Pitcher Nominees: Hailey Wesner (Saint Xavier).
