SXU's Sytsma Earns Second Men's CC Runner of the Week Award With Record-Setting Performance

CHICAGO --- Saint Xavier University's Isaac Sytsma (Highland, Ind.) has claimed his second Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week award, the league office announced on Wednesday morning.

Sytsma garnered the recognition with a record-setting performance at the Mount Mercy University (Iowa) Seminole Valley Stampede on Saturday.  The senior not only won the 212-person meet, but did so in a time of 24:37.6.  That set a new SXU record – which Sytsma held previously held – by nearly 20 seconds.

As a team, the Cougars placed third out of 19 teams, finishing only behind NAIA No. 17 Aquinas College (Mich.) and No. 18 University of St. Francis.  SXU also placed ahead of NCAA II Lewis University by 10 points.

Other Nominees: Luke Benes (St. Ambrose), Aitor Moya (Trinity Christian), Flynn Prather (Olivet Nazarene), Michael Reif (St. Francis).
