Top Marks Earn ONU's Randolph, SXU's Arokoyo Men's Outdoor T&F Weekly Accolades
CHICAGO --- A school record from Olivet Nazarene University's Joseph Randolph (Wailuku, Hawaii) and a pair of season-best marks by Saint Xavier University's Ayobami Arokoyo (Schaumburg, Ill.) have earned the two athletes Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's outdoor track & field weekly honors. The league office made the announcement on Tuesday morning.
Randolph hit the NAIA "B" standard in each of the two events he competed in to pick up CCAC Track Athlete of the Week accolades. His record-setting performance came in the 100-meter dash, where he ran a time of 10.44 seconds to finish first among 44 competitors at ONU's own Outdoor Open on Saturday.
That same day, the sophomore ran a 21.12-second time in the 200-meter dash at the Elmhurst University Twilight to also claim that event, out-running 61 other challengers.
A pair of NAIA "A" marks by Arokoyo led to his fourth CCAC Field Athlete of the Week honor.
On Friday, the senior recorded his best discus throw of the season at the Drake Relays with his NAIA "A" mark of 55.92 meters (183 feet, 5 inches). One day later at the Olivet Nazarene Outdoor Open, he took first place in both the shot put and discus events.
Arokoyo's distance of 15.95 meters (52-4) in the shot put was his best throw of the year. He added a toss of 52.76 meters (173-1) in the discus for another "A" mark. In both events, better than 25 individuals competed.
