JU's Caetano, SXU's Estrada Claim Men's Soccer Awards During Opening Week of League Play

CHICAGO --- Leading their respective teams to unbeaten records to open the league season during the seven-day period ending Sept. 29, Judson University's Joao Caetano (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Saint Xavier University's Joel Estrada (Chicago, Ill.) have been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Players of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Caetano gained the offensive distinction for his two-goal, three-assist output in a pair of shutout victories.  The senior forward provided a pair of assists in a 7-0 decision over Calumet College of St. Joseph on Wednesday.  He then authored two goals and one assist in a 9-0 blanking of University of St. Francis on Saturday.

Caetano now has three goals and three assists on the season.

With the two wins, Judson pushed its record to 5-3-2 overall and 2-0 against league competition.

Estrada was perfect in goal with 15 saves over two games to claim CCAC defensive plaudits.  The junior goalkeeper totaled seven saves in a 0-0 tie with Viterbo University in the league opener on Tuesday.  He then rang up eight saves in a 2-0 decision over St. Ambrose University on Saturday.

The two shutouts were the second and third of the campaign for Estrada and moved Saint Xavier to 1-0-2 in league action and 1-6-3 overall.
