SAU's Elliott, GSU's Salom Chandre Collect Men's Soccer Weekly Awards

CHICAGO --- St. Ambrose University's Eli Elliott (Liberty, Mo.) earned his first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award, while Governors State University's Marcal Salom Chandre (Tona Catalonia, Spain) returned to the spotlight on the defensive side for the second time in 2024, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Elliott accounted for all three goals scored by the Fighting Bees this past week.  The junior midfielder authored both goals in a 2-2 tie with Hannibal-LaGrange University (Mo.) last Monday.  He then forced a 1-1 tie early in the second half with his goal against NAIA No. 3-ranked Bethel University (Ind.) before the Bees succumbed 5-1.

St. Ambrose is 0-3-2 on the season.

Salom Chandre earned his second CCAC Defensive Player of the Week award this fall by recording 11 saves in a pair of road wins last week.  The sophomore goalkeeper's biggest match came last Wednesday in a 3-2 victory over Mount Vernon Nazarene University (Ohio).  In that contest, he stopped seven shots and handed the Cougars their first loss of the season.  They came into the match at 3-0-4.

Salom Chandre followed that up with a four-save effort in a 3-1 conference-opening victory over Holy Cross College (Ind.) on Saturday.

For the season, he is 4-1-1 in matches that he starts, while the team is 4-2-2 overall and 1-0 in the CCAC.

Other Offensive Nominees: Andrea Croce (Governors State), Ismael Aguero (Trinity Christian), Erik Morales (Judson), Noa Norton (Olivet Nazarene).

Other Defensive Nominees: Ivan Domingez (Judson), Giorgos Christodoulou (Trinity Christian), Kurodo Ihara (Olivet Nazarene), Gavin Niebel (Indiana Northwest).
