JU's Torres, USF's Figueredo Net Men's Soccer Weekly Recognition

CHICAGO --- Key contributions from Judson University's Matheus Duarte Torres (Niteroi, Brazil) and University of St. Francis' Federico Figueredo (Madrid, Spain) during the seven-day period ending Sept. 8 have earned the duo Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week recognition, respectively, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Torres produced the game-winning goal on a penalty kick with just eight seconds remaining in a 3-2 win over Mount Mercy University (Iowa) on Wednesday to gain the offensive accolades.  The senior midfielder also added an assist in the Eagles' only match of the week.

Judson is now 2-1-1 on the season.

Figueredo collected the defensive honors after winning a pair of 2-1 decisions over Cornerstone University (Mich.) last Tuesday and Concordia University Chicago on Saturday.  The junior goalkeeper stopped a total of ten shots over the two contests, including a season-high seven in the victory over Concordia.

St. Francis is off to a 4-1 start to the season.
