TCC's Alfieri Pulls Off The Rare Sweep of Men's Soccer Offensive & Defensive POW Honors
CHICAGO --- Trinity Christian College's Tiago Alfieri (Sao Paolo, Brazil) became a rarity on Tuesday when he was named both the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week for the seven-day period ending Sept. 1, it was announced by the league office.
A defender by trade, Alfieri led the Trolls with five points in their team's perfect 2-0 week by totaling one goal and three assists. The senior accounted for all but one goal in the Trolls' 4-0 victory over St. Mary-of-the-Woods College with one goal and two assists last Tuesday. Included was an assist on the game-winning goal. He followed that up with another assist in TCC's 2-1 nod over Hannibal-LaGrange University (Mo.) on Saturday.
Defensively, Alfieri started at left back in both matches and was a key piece to the Trolls limiting the opposition to just the one goal over the two contests. Included was TCC's second shutout of the season in the win over St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
Trinity Christian is off to a 4-0 start to the season.
Other Offensive Nominees: Fernando Nkumah (Judson), Jero Bencomo (Governors State), Joaquin Eichhorn (Viterbo), Kurodo Ihara (Olivet Nazarene), Juan Perez (Holy Cross).
