IUN's Williams, SAU's Spriggs Earn Final Weekly Men's Basketball Awards

CHICAGO --- Indiana University Northwest's Trace Williams (Flossmoor, Ill.) secured his third Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week award and St. Ambrose University's Will Spriggs (Jacksonville, Fla.) his second when the league office announced its final regular-season weekly honorees on Tuesday morning.

Williams gained the offensive plaudits for the third time by authoring a pair of outstanding all-around performances.  Not only did he average 22.5 points and shoot 60 percent from the field (15-of-25), but he also put up clips of 8.0 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 2.0 steals per contest.

The senior guard was especially tough in a 92-87 win over Governors State University last Tuesday when he delivered 31 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field and 10-of-13 accuracy at the foul line, while also contributing seven rebounds, six assists, two steals and one block. 

On Saturday, Williams just missed a triple-double by one rebound and one assist with his 14 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and two steals in a 90-77 decision over Viterbo University.

The two wins secured a share of the CCAC regular-season crown for the RedHawks with University of St. Francis.  Indiana Northwest closed out the regular season with a 22-6 overall mark and 16-4 record in league play.       

Spriggs matched an offensive weekly award from earlier this season with a defensive one this time around.  He delivered six steals, two blocks and three rebounds (two defensive) to go along with a career-high 35 points and four assists in a 103-101 setback to Saint Xavier University last Wednesday.  That was followed by another 18 points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal in a 78-72 win against Trinity Christian College on Saturday.

For the two games combined, the senior guard averaged 3.5 steals, 1.0 blocks, 3.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 26.5 points per game.

St. Ambrose went 15-12 overall during the regular season with an 8-12 record in the CCAC.
