CHICAGO --- Saint Xavier University's Noah Dreier (Brookfield, Wis.) and Judson University's Ryan Risch (Winthrop Harbor, Ill.) have been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the seven-day period ending March 9, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.
Dreier had a big week at the plate, batting .636 with seven hits in 11 at-bats. Three of the hits went for doubles. He also drove in five runs and scored another three in a four-game weekend series with St. Ambrose University.
The sophomore infielder recorded three multi-hit contests among his four played, topped by a 3-for-4, three-RBI Game 2 against St. Ambrose on Saturday. All three of his hits in that contest were the aforementioned doubles.
Dreier also had two hits in the first game on Saturday to finish the afternoon going 5-for-7 with all five of his runs batted in for the week coming in the 11-1 and 13-7 sweep. His other two-hit affair came in Sunday's nightcap, a 15-5 loss.
Saint Xavier is 9-11 overall and 2-2 to start the league season.
Risch collected Judson's win on the mound in the Eagles' only game last week. The senior went the first eight innings of a 5-2 victory over Valley City State University (N.D.) on Sunday. In the contest, he allowed only four hits and two walks, while averaging one strikeout per inning. He also yielded the two runs.
