St. Francis Sweeps First Set of Weekly Baseball Awards Behind Dant, Michalak

CHICAGO --- University of St. Francis gained a sweep of the first set of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week awards for the 2025 season courtesy of the performances of Drew Dant (Highland, Ill.) and Sean Michalak (New Lenox, Ill.) this past Sunday, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.

Dant was named the CCAC Player of the Week after batting .500 and driving in three runs in splitting a doubleheader with Georgetown College (Ky.) on Sunday afternoon.  The senior went 3-for-6 at the plate with one of the hits being a triple, leading to an .833 slugging percentage.  He also posted a .625 on-base percentage with one walk being a part of his day.

Dant drove in the eventual game-winning run in the 4-3 nightcap victory with his two-out single in the eighth inning.  It was one of two runs batted in for him in that contest.  He also registered an RBI triple in the 4-3 first-game loss.

Defensively, Dant fielded each of his four chances cleanly at third base.

Michalak claimed CCAC Pitcher of the Week accord after not allowing an earned run in his seven innings of work in the Game 2 victory.  He was the victim of two errors that led to a three-run Georgetown seventh inning, which surrendered USF's lead and kept Michalak from gaining his first win of the season.  Fortunately, the Saints rallied in the eighth inning to secure the win and the split on the day.

The senior right-hander allowed just four hits and two walks over the seven innings for a 0.88 WHIP.  He also struck out four batters.

In two starts this season, Michalak has yet to give up an earned run through 13 innings.

St. Francis is 1-5 on the season.

Other Player Nominees: Xavier Gilmore (Viterbo), Hudson Deal (Judson).

Other Pitcher Nominees: Brandon Jaenke (Viterbo).
