CHICAGO, Ill. – Along with the successes on the field and in the classroom over the past year, Saint Xavier's athletic programs have also spent time fulfilling the University's mission of Mercy in various service projects throughout the Chicagoland area. Some highlights during the 2018-19 year include:

• Members of the SXU Bowling teams volunteered at the Special Olympics event held at Arena Lanes in Oak Lawn on May 17-18.

• SXU Football spent time cleaning up and doing landscaping work at Mount Greenwood Park, and helped raise funds for Misericordia by participating in Candy Days in April. The Cougars also participated in the, and participated in the 18th annual Chicago Polar Plunge at North Avenue Beach, benefitting Special Olympics Chicago.

• Members of the SXU Baseball team held a one-day kids clinic for the Crestwood Crush Baseball Association at the Crestwood Recreation Center in November.

• SXU Women's Basketball held their third-annual "Hoops for Hope" event, raising funds for the family of an SXU alum who is currently battling breast cancer.

• SXU Bowling spent the day at Feed My Starving Children, an organization that coordinates the packaging and distribution of food to people in developing nations; the team hand-packed meals that were then sent to areas in need around the world.
